Man recovering after being accidentaly shot by hunting partner

A hunter is recovering at a Fox Valley hospital after being accidentally shot by another member of his hunting party Saturday morning.

According to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department, they received a phone call at about 9:10 a.m. reporting that the man had been accidentally shot while hunting with of his friends at the Wolf River Game Farm at W6796 State Road 156, Shiocton.

Authorities were told that a bird had flown between the group and while one of the hunters swung his shotgun around he shot the man in the lower torso with a load from his shotgun.

The victim was transported by Theda Star Helicopter to Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah were he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
