友だちに誘われて、水曜日、ハリウッド・ボウルなる野外音楽堂へ。日比谷の野音みたいなつもりで行ったら、その規模に仰天。いま調べたら、扇型の座席の収容人数は18,000人らしい。
コンサートはウディ・アレンの映画音楽をフィーチャーしたジャズ。映画のストーリーやこぼれ話をはさみながら、『ラジオ・デイズ』などの名作で使われたジャズを演奏するというもの。
客席での飲食もオーケーで、お酒とおつまみを持参して、さながらピクニック。ステージは遠くてよく見えないから、スピーカーと複数の巨大スクリーンを通じてコンサートを楽しむわけだけど、それでも雰囲気は満点。
エンターテイメントを楽しむ気軽さ、そしてスピーカーとスクリーン。これってすごくハリウッド的じゃない？ しかも、映画サントラの生演奏なんて！
